Science, Technology, Engineering & Manufacturing (STEM) needs
If there is one area of school curriculum that is being held back due to obsolete or aging equipment dating back to the 90s, 80s, 70s, and yes, even the 60s, it is the science, technology, engineering and manufacturing (STEM) areas.
If the district, and Appleton community are to carry out their mission and prepare students for their future, many updates and improvements are needed at several schools. Take a look at the video below to learn what the future holds for the STEM areas in our schools and most importantly, our students, with the successful passage of the referendum.
Preparing students for their future includes providing science/technology/engineering/ manufacturing curriculum and classroom spaces that address competitive local workforce needs. Students deserve and need real-world, hands-on experiences in structured and guided learning environments that reflect current industry standards.
The referendum will:

Provide science/technology/engineering/manufacturing equipment upgrades to support introductory and advanced classes for students that reflect current industry standards in science/technology/engineering/manufacturing.

Provide science/technology/engineering/manufacturing facility updates that more accurately reflect current business and industry environments in the Fox Valley Region
Updating existing facilities and equipment will allow AASD to provide:

A bridge to post high school local training, education, and job opportunities

Students with the opportunity to remain competitive in a global economy and contribute to the local economy.
Referendum funding (one-time capital projects) will be used to:

Renovate and update aging science labs to enhance curriculum delivery at the following buildings:
Madison (original - 1958)
Wilson (1971)
Roosevelt (1971)
East (original - 1966)

Remodel and repurpose the Industrial Technology Education areas to better meet today’s industry standards.
