Energy Efficiency
$6.1 Million
The amount of savings for AASD energy conservation over the past decade. That's an impressive number. That's a tremendous use of our tax dollars.
Over the past decade, the District has taken many steps to improve the functionality of the school buildings as well as increase energy efficiency:
-
Added electronic controls to virtually all energy use equipment.
-
Upgraded or replaced boilers, chillers (for AC), HVAC equipment, and hot water heaters.
-
Upgraded or replaced outdated lighting, windows, and doors with more energy efficient models.
Electric Use was reduced by 17.4%
Gas was redcued by 22.9%
Total savings reduced was 21.4%=$6.1 million dollars
And, did you know, the AASD buildings also serve our community during power outages? Generator installations help the AASD meet this need.
Going forward, the district has identified a number of opportunities (see below) to further improve the functionality and energy efficiency of our buildings, primarily by replacing windows that are more than 40 years old.
Let's make sure we continue to encourage frugal spending and smart behavior by voting Yes and Yes on February 18th.
